ALASKA LIFE
MORE ABOUT JODIE
Living in Alaska has been one adventure after another. This Kentucky girl never imagined spending weekends camping in the wild, watching belugas chase the tide, witnessing the aurora light up the New Year’s sky, or scaling rugged peaks. Eagles are a daily sight, and I’ve even had the thrill of touching a King salmon with my bare hands. Winter means carving fresh powder at Alyeska, while the rest of the year takes us all over the state in our Arctic Fox—still holding out for the ultimate off-grid experience. Homer is where my Southern roots meet the Last Frontier. There, I ride horses across the tidal flats and reel in Kings from Kachemak Bay.
One of my newest adventures is raising my Yellow Lab puppy, Aarne (pronounced “Ar-neh”), whose name means “ruler of eagles” in Finnish. He’s in training to become a therapy dog at Alaska Dog Works in Willow, and I can already see how he’ll bring joy and healing to others.
Hope you enjoy this glimpse into our adventures. We soak up every moment in this incredible place!
